Director’s Note

SEBASTIAN: What is this bewitchery you practice?
ELLA: It’s just kindness.

Imagine – a world in which everyone focused first and foremost on being KIND. A world in which that kindness was TRANSFORMATIVE. A world in which, on the day when you overslept, lost your dog, dropped your phone, misplaced your car keys, and stubbed your toe, every person you encountered along the way presented you with KINDNESS. How much more bearable would that day have been?! What a beautiful world that would be!

And yet, a world like that feels so improbable. Implausible. IMPOSSIBLE.

But let’s just IMAGINE. Let’s escape into a world where nothing is impossible. A world in which simple acts of kindness open the door for magic, wonder, and happily ever afters. As you sit in the theatre, allow yourself to escape into the pages of a fairytale book. As you watch the players bring this story to life, allow yourself to believe in magic. And as you see a beloved story presented in a new way, allow yourself to trust that the impossible is possible.

I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. I’ll put it before any of the things like courage or bravery or generosity or anything else. -Roald Dahl
